The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said that 757 journalists were killed worldwide between 2015 and December 24, 2024. According to the CPJ report, more than 98 journalists were killed in 2024 alone.

Based on this data, 20 countries are considered unsafe for journalists. These countries alone accounted for 647 (85%) of the deaths.

India is ranked 7th among the most dangerous countries for journalists, with 31 journalists killed between 2015 and 2024. It is noteworthy that there have been no wars on the borders of India during these years.
